About China’s Top:

Gingko: first appeared during the Jurassic Age some 160 million years ago.

Brahmaputra Canyon: 504.6 kilometers long and 6,009 meters deep at its deepest spot. Its average depth is 2,268 meters.

Qinghai-Tibet Plateau:average height is 4,500 meters above sea level. Mount Qomolangma is 8,848.13 meters above sea level.

The Chinese language:General speaking is Han Language which are the language of major nationality of Han people, Speakers approx 1.2 billion. Chinese characters are one of the earliest written languages in the world with a history of 6,000 years.

Yongle Encyclopedia: complied during 1403-1408 in the Ming Dynasty by more than 2,000 scholars. It consists of 22,937 volumes.

Tian'anmen Square:Located at city center of Beijing, founded from Min Dynasty, and build up more larger during a few hundreds years until now, It covers an area of 40 hectares.

Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal: The canal was first built in the 5th century BC and was substantially extended twice during the Sui and Yuan dynasties. The canal begins at Tongxian County in Beijing in the north and ends in Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province in the south and is 1,801 kilometers in length.

Imperial Palace (also known as the Forbidden City): in Beijing. It was imperial palace of both the Ming and Qing dynasties. It was first completed in 1420 and covers an area of 720,000 square meters.

Great Wall: It climbs and descends on the ridges of mountains in northern China and has a total length of more than 6,700 kilometers. It was first started during the Spring and Autumn and the Warring States periods.

Panda:
The Giant Panda of China is one of the rarest animals in the world. Giant pandas live in remote high mountains in Sichuan, Shanxi and Gansu  provinces. They are a surviving species of the Fourth Ice Age and are known as a "living fossil". They are regarded as China's "national treasure".Panda’s major food is bamboo. An adult panda eat bamboo shoot around 20-30 pounds daily.Panda has a diet which is 99% 
bamboo, but may eat other foods such as fish, boney, eggs and yams. They belong to Carnivora, classified in the bear family.

Peace Speaks:        
Olympic Games derive from ancient Greece at Olympia. First ancient games were held on 776 B.C. Begin reason is the war constantly between numbers of states, People needed suitable health & strong physic for the war; at same time, people desired peace. Athletics skills won people’s cheers, and brought people joy and peace. There were unwritten statutory at that time: whatever city-state or region taking place of games, no one should start war at the Mediterranean region, and must stop the war even on pitched battle; not allowed to carry weapon enter gymkhana. Olympia became inviolable holy land, and the games became embodiment of peace. The winners of competitions would gain olive garland - the symbol of the peace. Since then, once every 4 years, total of 293 games were held, until 393 A.D. Rome Emperor Theodosius 
decreed discontinued Olympic Games what called “pagan cults”, and burn down the buildings. In 552 A.D,
the earthquake covered ancient ruins.

Along with modern sports came in vogue, Greek were restart the games, and held 4 times from 1859 -1889.  Then, French educationist P. de suggested regains Olympic Games in 1888. On June 1894, International Olympic Committee founded in Paris. In 1896, the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held in Athens. Olympic games continuely as once every 4 years held by different countries. The Games have always brought people together in peace to respect universal moral principles. The upcoming Games will feature athletes from all over the world and help promote the Olympic spirit.

Talking about Beijing:
Beijing is facing the sea to the east and linking up with Taihang Mountains at west; adjacent to the Inner Mongolian Grassland by the northwest while she gazes into the North China Plain in the due south. Near at hand, Beijing is embraced on three sides by high mountains with peaks towering in the vicinities to help form a little plain in the middle, which shaping like a bay is known as “Beijing Bay”. Flowing in the bosom of the bay are the three watercourses: the one on the west being called Yongding, the other by the east known as Chaobai while that flowing in the middle is the Wenyu River.

Beijing covers an area of 16,800 square kilometers. Beijing accounts for 0.175 percent of whole territory of the country. The elevation of the city of Beijing proper is 43.71 meters. Beijing has population around 11 million where are in 18 districts and counties under its jurisdiction. The 8 districts of Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chongwen, Xuanwu, Chaoyang, Fengtai, Haidian Shijingshan are in the city proper and the near suburbs. Others are in the outskirts.

Beijing, known as Beiping for a short period before 1949, was so addressed after the Kuomintang removed the government office from Beijing to Nanjing in 1928. Actually, Beijing or Beiping it all began to be so called in the early days of the Ming Dynasty. During a very long time before the Ming Dynasty, Beijing was called Youzhou at earliest ancient times, setting up as capital by Yellow King. Then King Wu of the Western Zhou, atter his subjugation of the Shang in 1122 BC, offered the offspring of King Yao to a place called Ji, which is Beijing city original located. Since then up to the “Spring and Autumn period” Beijing had been known as Ji. Later  each Dynasty changed this capital city as different names, but most of name with Ji, Yan or You. Until 1403, Emperor Chengzu of Ming Dynasty, moved his capital from Nanjing to Beijing and name was finalized. The rudimentary from of the present –day Beijing came by and large into being in the very period.

Beijing located at the North Temperate Zone, has a typical continental, but affable monsoon climate. Through it has distinctive four seasons, the time for spring and autumn is relatively short while that for summer and winter is much longer. The yearly mean temperature is 11.6 °C, The hottest days are in July and the highest temperature averages 25.8 °C. The coldest days are in January with a mean temperature at - 4.6 °C. The best time in a year is in later August, September and October, the Golden season for making tours in Beijing.

Beijing has historically been one of China’s ancient capitals. Beijing as a capital, already has over 800 years history from the Jin Dynasty. Beijing has a history onwards of 3,000 years, from the overthrow of the Shang Dynasty (around 16th -11th century B.C.) to the region of Yan, called Ji as capital. Or so far as its history concerned, it can be traced back to the time of “Peking Men” of some 500, 000 years ago. At that time, Chinese ancestors already began to live in and around the present-day Zhoukoudian area of Beijing.
